Key ingredients and substitutions
Oatmeal
Rolled porridge oats is available in almost every supermarket. These often come in various textures, use the one you prefer (for instance, fine-milled or coarse).
Milk
This recipe uses one-third milk and two-thirds water. If you want the porridge to be even creamier, use all milk or go 50/50 with the water.
Alternatively, swap the milk portion for water for a lactose-free version. You can also make this vegan by using dairy-free milk like soy milk, coconut milk, almond milk or oat milk.
Peanut butter
Opt for either crunchy or smooth peanut butter - choose your favourite!
If you fancy a different taste or have a peanut allergy, feel free to swap it out for other nut butter, such as almond butter.
Honey
How much you add is up to you. You can also leave it out if you prefer something less sweet. For a vegan version, use agave syrup, maple syrup or date syrup.
