Equipment

  • 1 blender or food processer that can handle chopping ice

Ingredients

  • 500 millilitre fresh pineapple chunks - 2 cups
  • 250 millilitre ice - 1 cup
  • 1-2 tablespoons honey (optional) - or any sweetener of your choice, if needed

Instructions

  • Start by peeling the pineapple and cutting it into cubes. Measure out a cup of pineapple and add it to the blender.
To make more or less pineapple slush, you can adjust the amount of pineapple you use. A good rule of thumb is to use twice as much pineapple as water. For example, if you want to make a larger batch, you can use 5 cups of pineapple with 2.5 cups of ice.
If you want it sweeter, add sweetener according to your taste.
  • Blend the pineapple until it reaches a mostly smooth consistency, which usually takes around 20 seconds.
  • Add the ice and blend until the ice breaks up into a rough slush. Be careful not to blend it too finely, as you want to maintain that slushy texture.
  • Taste for sweetness and add the honey according to taste. You can also use maple syrup, coconut sugar, castor sugar or a powdered sweetener.
  • Pour into glasses and add a fun straw or a cocktail umbrella.
